I found some HD Skull swingarm bolt covers that I wanted to put on. The left side went on fine. But the right (exhaust side) is a challenge! These covers, having a logo, need to have a proper orientation rather than be able to turn in any way like plain chrome ones could.

The challenge is that with the holes for the set screws directly on the bottom, there's only about 1/4" clearance above the frame member that supports the exhaust. Even the tiny allen wrench supplied w/ the covers won't fit in this space, and it's a "feel only" type of thing, you certainly can't see the bottom side of the cover when trying to install.

Has anyone else found a way to get a right-side swingarm bolt cover on? Do I need to cut down the allen wrench so the short leg is only about 1/4" long, so it'll fit in this tiny gap? Otherwise all I can think of is drilling/tapping new screw holes on the sides of the cover, so I have clearance to use the wrench to tighen up the set screws.

i put a set on 07 fxst. pretty sure that i used a "reduced clearance: allen wrench, but not sure. i do remember it was a PITA. it has been way over a year ago. my suggestion is to be patient and it will work, don't re-drill and tap.
