RE: summer ride
What do you ride? Some folks can do 1000+ mi per day some can do 200 per day, it depends on you my personal best is 563 in 1 day, It was all Xway though, I dont think youd need a support vehicle use your bike! With some inginuity & some skills you can pack 7+ days of clothes etc. If you arent camping you can prob do more! its around 1600+ mi ive done 2500 mi trips over 6 or so days! 415 ish a day average, It should be fun!

Ya might want to pick up a copy of American Rider, they have an article called "12 ways to screw up your ride" it's all about the do's and don'ts of planning a trip..
Physical condition plays a big factor as gettin' in the wind for long periods of time isrough on your bodyeven in good weather.

I vote no support vehicle! Kinda like swimming the English Channel with a life jacket on : )
I say that only because it's not my butt riding from Maine to Florida
Me and my buddy are planning to do almost the same thing this summer. We are going from Northwest Arkansas to Key West FL. I still haven't decided on what type of bag I'll use.

Have done a number of long trips...it's all in how you like to ride like some of the others have said. If a support vehicle makes you feel more comfortable/confident in taking the trip then go for it. You'll still be in the wind. Hope it works out for you - I'm sure it'd be an adventure!
