Default Fatcat 2-1 and a lowering kit?

2008 Crossbones, With a Fatcat 2-1 can I still lower the rear and have enough clearance that my pipe won't scrape? Also, if I am looking to lower my rear fender heightis it alowering kitthat I amlooking for? Which brand works best? Thanks...

I have a Heritage Classic, not a Crossbones (beautiful bike, by the way -- congratulations). But I also have a Fatcat with the quiet baffle, and I can tell you that the bottom of the muffler section is pretty well scraped -- and my bike isn't lowered. I'm not sure how the Fatcat would fit on a X-bones, but on a Heritage Classic the muffler hangs slightly below the right floorboard, so it's the first thing to hit.

That said, I wouldn't give up the look, sound or performance of the Fatcat for any amount of additional clearance.

I have a Spinger Classic, which I believe would be comparable to the 'Bones and a Fat Cat. I love the exhaust, but I can drag it with the stock suspension height, the lowered would really hinder your cornering, IMO.

Thanks for your replys, lowering was a total afterthought, I am pretty short so it should have been my first. Pipe, Forcewinder and SERT showed up yesterday.I got a couple weeks to waittill the bike shows up here...Bluzmn59 That is a sweet springerthat pipe looks right at home on it. I got the black ceramic so hopefully it looks as good as yours...

Thanks, Milty. The black ceramic should look really good on that blacked-out Crossbones. Be sure and post some pics when you get her done. You should check out the Springer picture forum, you will enjoy it. Click on the Motorcycle Pictures, then the Softail forum and there is a separate thread in there for Springers only.

I can tell you that the Fatcat pipe is a little higher than the frame. I can get a lift under the frame with a about 1" to spare. Probably not much of an answer but the D&D Fatcat is what looks good to me. And the sound is righteous. Almost went with the black, it was a tough choice. With your Crossbones it should look great. Let's see the pics when you get done.

Tx. Just put a set of pegs on the highway bars today. Gives the option of resting heels on the boards and toes on pegs, or feet on pegs. Or up on the top of the hhighway bar. With the new offset backrest post and the pegs I can sprawl out like ahoe on the sofa. Finally got it comfy for a trip, long or short. Don't care about chrome or bling, just want to becomfy. A bagger can't be too far off.

I am thinking about lowering the crossbones 2 inches, but I dont know if the pipes will rub after they are installed. I am getting Rineharts, either the staggered or flush cut. It looks like the pipes might be short enough that they dont rub. what do yall think?

I can solve the lowered/pipes conflict easy enough...plan rides to make all left turns

I have Rinehart Flush Cuts on my Deuce which is lowered around 1 1/2 " both ends and it is slowly wearing the exhaust down with any sorta aggressive right turns. Price to pay and any modification can be viewed as a compromise. Incidentally there is a sound clip in link in signature..about 2 minutes of a variety of riding that should give you an idea of Flush Cut sound and I imagine that is VERY close to the Staggered as well. No waiting to download give it a listen John
