Radio Shack Siren On an 07 Night Train!!! -HOW TO-
I noticed alotof questionson how to properly install the siren. I guess the location of the Plug varies from one model to another. There is posts about it for other models and I wondered if it could be installed on a model with a button-less FOB. So I did it up and here is for anyone thinking about doin it. I think its a great upgrade for the six bucks spent.
First off this was done on a 2007 FXSTB with a button-less FOB. The location of the "Optional Security Siren" plug for the Night train is between the Rear fender and the Battery compartment. Behind a protective Plastic Plate.
In order to have acces to it u need to remove the plate by Removing the (2) 11mm bolts on the bottom of the plate.
Then Slide it up and out and lower it to the floor or compleately slide it out.
Next locate the plug.
and either wiggle it out or reach around it and unclip it.
There is 3 wires.
Brown/Gray - Power
Light Green/Brown - Signal
Black/Geen - Ground
The siren only has 2 wires, Black and Red.
You will only need to connect 2 of the wires from the plug.
Brown/Gray - Power (RED) to Siren
Light Green/Brown - Signal (Black) to Siren
Test it out by walking away from it with ur FOB. It should chirp when it activates and it will go Insane when someone Messes with it and the FOB is not near six feet.
The rest is up to you. Some users have purchased the Delphi plug to make it Plug n Play. Others have used paper clips and solder the wires together and others have simply cut the wires and taped the together. Use ur imagination for the mounting location as well. I simply uses a cable tie to strap it in the location where the real siren is sposed to go.
VERY IMPORTANT!!!!! tAKE THIS TIME TO MAKE SURE THAT THE 2 SCREWS SECURING THE CONNECTOR PLATE ARE THERE. mINE WERE NOT AS U CAN SEE IN ONE OF THE PICTURES. THIS PROB HAPPENED WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT REINFORCED DUE TO THAT ISSUE THEY HAD ON BIKES CATCHING FIRE. SO IF U HAD THAT DONE AT UR LOCAL STEALER. TAKE THE TIME TO CHECKIT OUT CAUSE IT MIGHT MESS SOMETHING UP IF ITS LOOSE LIKE MINE WAS.
ANY ? ASK!!!
I am in no way trying to take credit for this. Im just tryin to make it easy for others to do it.
