Vance and Hines HS Pro Pipe Turning Gold
2006 Softail Heritage Classic with a Vance and Hines 2-1 HS Pro Pipe. I have the EFI Tuner and the Stage I Air Cleaner. I have approx. 8000 miles on the pipe and noticed that the middle of the chrome megaphone right behind the baffel is turning a gold/yellow tint. Vance and Hines says their is no warranty cover on the mega phoneof the pipe. The only part covered is where the 220 degree heat covers are over thetwo pipes out of the motor. Any advice on how to remove the discoloration without damaging the chrome? Also any advice on how to keep it from returning? Anyone else have this happen to a 2-1 Vance and Hines HS Pro Pipe? Thanks for the help.

I had that too on my rush slip ons where the heat shield meets the joint. Rush told me too bad take back to dealer, dealer said call rush. There is a cleaner that removes the yellow and the blue but they tell me it wears away the chrome layer and to use it once in a while. I will get some this week.

RE: Vance and Hines HS Pro Pipe Turning Gold
This is a common problem on all vance & hines pro pipes , I used to work for a dealer & we installed hundreds of these pipes with race tuners , almost all of them discolor in the mega phone area, most all pipes will have some discoloraztion where the exhaust flow is restricted , unfortunenatly there is not much you can do about it, expcept try to polish it out but it will wear out the chrome as previously stated
