Looking at buying. Questions!!!
I am looking at a nice 97 Softail Custom. It has a long list of aftermarket goodies.
I will list a few I know of...
Triple trees
blinkers
headlight
wheel/spokes
lowered
bars
ceramic coated Samson Legend Series "Street Sweepers"exhaust
RevTech 100 engine
custom paint
forward controls
seat...
The issue is that I have just found out that the title shows "previous damage".
I do not know how this will effect how much it is worth... Does the list of added things negate the value issues of the title showing damage?
Basically, looking for as many opinions as I can. I really like the bike but don't want to pay the price if the cost is too much for what it is worth.

RE: Looking at buying. Questions!!!
I know what the damage was. You can see in the pictures, it looks like a brand new bike. The question is how does the "previous damage" Title affect it's worth?
Is it worth $9,000?
$11,000?
$7,000?
$20,000?
If I was more familiar with Harley's I wouldn't have to ask. I figured that everyone here would have a better idea from experiance or something...

RE: Looking at buying. Questions!!!
A couple of thing to think about. first off A title with damaged history can absolutley hurt the resale of a bike. But what are your intentions? When I finally bought my Softail Custom I knew that this should be the last bike I plan on buying. If you plan on keeping it for ever I wouldn't wory about it. If you only plan on flipping it in a short amount of time youmayhave a harder time reselling then if the title was clean.
It looks like a sharp bike, and if it was put back together with care you may have a good deal. How much are they asking for it?
Good luck. JB

RE: Looking at buying. Questions!!!
Lot of questions regarding the pedigree of this bike. I agree that a salvage title will deminish the resale value of the bike, but I can't get over the fact that the HD motor was replaced with a Rev Tech motor. If I were a betting man, looking at theaftermarket items you listedI would say the bike was in a major accident and at this point I would have to question the durability of the frame as well.

RE: Looking at buying. Questions!!!
I think the bank will not loan as much on salvage bikes. You said prior damage, not sure this is the same. Yes it will hurt resale. What's he want? I would guess it's worth around $8K. Chrome bolt ons will get you nothing extra, do not count those into the equation. Also not a fan of the Korean motor, would be a minus value in my book. Nice bike though.
