I've got a lowering kit...but how do I use it!?!?!?!?!
This is going to sounds pretty dumb, but someone has gotta help me out here. I just bought my first Harley and it's a 99 Night Train. It has a lowering kit on the rear. I'm a car mechanic (so IU'm not COMPLETELY incompetant when it comes to bikes). The back of the shocks (where it goes out to meet the swingarm) have bolts that look adjustable like tie rod ends on a car. Also, the back of the shocks have 6-8 holes all the way around both of them, and when I bought the bike from this guy he said I needed a special tool that went in the holes. ANY IDEAS!?!?! I'm all sorts of confused here.
THANKS!!!

Try this link for more info www.fatbillscustoms.com.
The tool you need to go into the holes in the shock is a spanner available from HD for < $10.00. . If you have the stock shocks you will probably only be able to adjust the spring preload and not the ride height.

XARAN is correct. The shock ajustment is only to stiffen or loosen the spring tension, not raise or lower the rear. If you double you might want to increase tension on the spring with this.
It might help to desribe the lowering kit.

Well what's all this stuff I see about lowering kits like this???

This is exactly what my shocks look like and the guy I bought it from said it had a lowering kit installed. And you can definitley tell that the bike is NOT stock height. It is visibly lower but I want a bit more.
Any Idea???
