Rocker box gaskets

RE: Rocker box gaskets
I have replaced them on both my bikes. Neither for leaks, the Train swaped for chrome and the RK had pitting on the originals. The manual would help for torque values, torque patterns, etc. I had ordered the "Dog Bone" extensions from McMaster-Carr that the manual suggested for tightening a couple of the bolts that are hard to get at. If you are just doing the upper covers, very easy once the tank is off. If you are doing the lowers as well, you need to remove the breathers, rocker arm shafts and pushrods. (Don't mix up the pushrods, intake and exhaust are different. You will have 2 black and 2 silver. I take a piece of cardboard, punch a line of holes in it with a screwdriver, mark one end front and install the rods in as I take them out front to back.) A few hour job, but if your mechanical not bad at all.
