Default Softail rear shock lowering kit???

Anybody have experiance installing the after market rear shockslowering kit? Of course as usual the Internet company did not provide instructions. It looked easy enough. One stud and couple nuts for each shock. 8 hours later and I can't figure out how to remove the stud. Is there a special spanner wrench that fits in the 4 holes? Its tight! Tommorrow isSunday. Any quick methods or tools I could fabricate. Thanks!

didnt have to use a spanner wrench to install the lowering kit. it just set teh preload on the shock. other than that, i dont rember how i done it. I'll look around and see if I cant find the intructions i had. You might be able to find some instructions online.

I'm not sure which aftermarket set you have, but most require a hydraulic press if you have to replace the stud, not add to it. I wouldn't recommend opening the shock if it has pressure in it. My set didn't require dismantling the shock which is the main reason I purchased it.

Here is a warning on JP Cycles about all other brands:

Important Installation Notice about Lowered Softail® Models
Most lowering kits for Softail® modesl require disassembly of the shock absorber to install. Shock tool 701-365 or a suitable press is required. Failure to use the proper tool can result in severe personal injury.

I didnt need any kind of special tool for mine (white brothers kit). I used a vice to dissassemble mine. As far as being tight, yes i was, mine had a shitload of thread lock on them. but only took bout 2 hours to swap it out
