Heritage Rear Brake Light...
I just found out this afternoon, after a very needed ride, that my rear brake light stays on. After arriving back at the homestead, I investigated the problem. Upon checking the hand brake lever, I found that theplunger (inside the switch housing)is not being pressed back down, when you realease the lever. It starts to press it back down, but the plunger "Pops off" to the side of the armature on the lever. The boot is torn on the plunger, and I am assuming this is why it will not stay on the armature. Anyone know if you can just order a new boot? But, I would imagine that you would need to order the whole switch / harness from HD, as they want to milk every cent they can from you. Also, does this happen a lot? Is there something that can be done to prevent this from happening... i.e. a modification to the switch / housing? Any insight in this fix would be greatly appreciated.

I doubt you can get just the boot, but the bright side is that the switch itself is avalable as a seperate piece PN=71590-96A so you won't have to order an entire contol set.
You might want to order the spring clip PN=71509-00 that keeps it in place as well, just in case yours is bent or gets lost when you pull the controls apart.
