Default DELUXE weight capacity 2-up ? ?

WOO-HOO !!! I just traded the Sportster for a new '08 Deluxe. EXCITED ain't the proper term !

The dear wife just informed me that there are going to be some rides that she will want to go with me on instead of riding her Sporty. (I kinda like having her....well....you know)

I weigh about....and she weighs about....uh...let's see..........

We'll havea total weight for both of us at around 375#. Will this present a problem of any kind for the bike? I'm concerned about changing the handling more than anything else. Any mods you would suggest to help when we're 2-up?

No problem with 375 on the bike. We are the same weights. My wife will occasionally ride bitch on my bike. In order to keep her happy I had to get her a removable back rest and if she really wanted to ride back there often I hear the large seat pad is more comfortable. As for handling changes, you can expect longer stopping distances and need to be cautious at slow speeds. Once rolling the bike rides fine except when you drag a floorboard it will wake you up.

I am about 300lbs and my wife is 135lbs or so...... We have zero problems on my Fatboy. I do need to tighten up the rear shock a little but otehr than that we are fine. Have fun.

My wife and I ride two to three hundred miles on the weekend on our Deluxe. We haven't had any problems except the boards drag in tight corners. We weigh about 330 lbs. and the bike handles the two of us fine. Installed the larger rear seat for the wife,a back rest and floor boards. I've been thinking about turning the springs up a notch or two. Any one ever done this? Got 30,000 miles on it and may be ready to step up to a roadglide. We test drove one and the two up ride was great. What do you guys think about the softail vs. the touring frame ?

HA!!!!

I am a big guy, Girl I know likes to ride, She is big girl. Between us we are over 600#. You feel it and stopping disatnces are definatly increased ( we are over the load recommendation) . But no problems so far with over 1000 miles on the Night train.

I would definitely recommend tighting up the shocks a little. Check your owner's manual. I think I've got mine setat "2 threads showing"
