Detachable Saddle Bags

RE: Detachable Saddle Bags
I paid $120 for a set of plastic backed leather bags from Saddleman and then another $150 for Ghost brackets. I'll try to remember to get pics and the model of the bags tomorrow. They fit the lines of the rear fender pretty decent and are on and off in literally a few seconds.

cgauss,
Before you go aftermarket saddlebags, I've got a quick thought to share with you... When I first paid the ~$700 for the HD Saddlebags & mounting bracktry for my Rocker-C, I thought the price was rediculous and had buyers remorse for about a week. That is, until I saw them installed & inspected them. The HD bags are first rate - from the Heavy-duty Chrome mount bars, quick-release pins to remove the whole bag, the quick-release snaps under the "for looks only" HD buckled straps, expandable size, rigid plastic interior panels, etc. Can't say enough about the quality of these bags. Pricey, yes. Great valuefor those willing and able to pay for quality. On a friend's bike, I have seen $50 bags that merely hang over the back fender of a softail custom and are held-down (but not necessarily centered) by the seat. My friend got what he paid for... imho

RE: Detachable Saddle Bags
I did lots of research on this subject...
I bought the HD Fatboy bags and had the dealer rigid mount them.....
Then I ordered the Barebacks system. It is great. I installed it in less than 10 minutes. I can take the bags off in 5 seconds. I bought the little chrome caps and you cant even tell I had bags on my bike..... look at the pic in my signature. That is with the caps. It is a great system and I am very happy with my choice.

I went with Sadllemen bags and Easy Brackets. There are a ton of non HD Choices out there, and plenty of good quality, good looking bags and brackets to choose from. Have fun searching - lot's of options to consider. Try flipping through the softail pictures section for ideas.
