Default Can anyone tell me why 2008 Fatboy has 2 holes in the middle of the rear guard

Upon removing the pillion there are 2 holes drilled smack in the middle of the guard, with 2 rubber grommets in them. They are not there for paint protection as the rear pillion doesn't touch them. Why are they there?????????????????????????????

Many Thanks

Jeff

To hold the rubber grommets.

Could be for the lugage rack mounting or something like the seaton a Deluxe or Heritage as I believeall three share thesame fender.

I don't think that the Deluxe or Heritage share the same fenders. The Fatboys have those beautiful 200mm rear tires that others don't.

I'm going to have to lift my pillion, because I can't picture these holes. I haven't seen a fender rack option for the '08s that would install in place of the pillion. (probably the older kits will fit the '08s, I just haven't seen any NEW offerings).

Now I'm curious too!

I've got a set Avon tires mounted on black powder-coated rims with copper spokes for an '08 Fatboy that needs a home.

Yes for multifit. Save us money when we buy a new bike, yea right. There are chrome caps you can get when running a solo for the holes of you can get some chrome acorn nuts and make it look spiked

If they are for multi-fit IMO that is absurd. First there are no options (that I can find) to utilise these holes, and secondly whatif an owner doesn't want to fit anything on the back guard, but would like to ride solo. I will be doing the acorn nuts, and the chrome caps I am getting painted the same colour as the guard, before I pick it up. The waymy previousFatboy seats were connected to the bike was neat and hidden leaving the rear guard clean. Would love to speak the the brains trust that came up with this.

Thanks for your replies

Jeff

To hold the rubber grommets.
Now why didn't think of that. Sadly that is all I can see as the reason.
