Default MAY HAVE APROBLEM...HELP

ok, as many of you know, i am mechanically retarded...i removed my bullet fron turn signals, because i have the lighted buckshot mirrors. when i did it, i checked to see if my mirror signals were working properly, and they are. however, yesterday when i went for a ride, i noticed that my signal indicator, on the dash, was blinking progressively faster, then shutting off....what did i do?

You probably need to install a load equalizer in the circuit. The LED mirror turn signals will often act that way because electrically they "look/act" like a short circuit to the flasher unit.
Sometimes they work fine and others they will do that fast flash routine until the load on the circuit is corrected.
Its not uncommon for two seemingly identical bikes to behave completely differently. One will work fine and the other will flash at high speed. You could try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes then seeing if it "fixes" the problem. But I wouldn't bother because it could go back to the same thing later at a time that you might really need it to work properly. I would just geta load equalizer installed and be done with it.

PS many like Badlands or Kury are plug and play things the require little orno mechanical or electrical ability to install.

harleys and many other bikes are sensitive when it comes to changing amperages and wattages on lighting circuits, i agree w/ citoriplus. you need a load leveler.

I did the momentary disconnect ,of the battery, when I switched to LED rear signals. I have not had a problem.
When you disconnect the battery, I have read whereit is easiest to disconnect the battery, at the frame connection for ground, rather then at the battery terminals. If that doesn't fix it, you will have to install a load equalizer.

While its always possible to mess things up, its highly unlikely to do anything serious to it. But as a precaution I would refrain from using the turn signals until you get an equalizer installed.

the lighted buckshot mirrors specifically state in the directions that the stock turn signals must be used otherwise the system will not work properly. this is the reason why i returned them. i wanted to get rid of the bullet mirrors as well. i bet there is not enough resistance now that the stock signals are gone. you need a load equalizer.

my bike also did the same thing when i replaced all the signal bulbs with LEDs. i asked the dealer why and they said it was the bulbs

good luck

Right solution but wrong reason. LED turn signals "look/act" like an open circuit, because they draw so much less current than an incandescent lamp.
