As always - it pays to shop

As always - it pays to shop
A female friend of mine who has a Sporty wanted heated handgrips as her hands often get cold when riding below 60 degrees. She called 3 different HD dealers within a 25 - 30 mile radius. All were the same price (msrp) on the grips. However, 1 quoted her 5 hrs labor for install, 1 quoted 2 - 3 hrs and a third quoted 1 - 2 hrs. She took it to the 3rd. They did a nice job, charged her less than 2 hrs labor and washed/detailed up her bike. Obviously, the dealer who quoted her 5 hrs was hoping that she had stupid written on her forehead. Just another example of a lack of conscience in today's world.

Similar thing happened to me. Had a battery go bad, needed one now and didnt have time to shop, got stuck with a 125.00 bill for the battery from local dealer where I will add I bought my bike from. The next day I was at another dealer and the same battery had a tag of 85.00 on it. FOund out that they had the highway pegs I wanted for 30.00 less as well. Needless to say they got my money.

It helps to know the people you're dealing with. There are some things that I'll go to the local Indy shop and some things you go to the HD Dealer. Motos are like anything else, people will try to get over on you with either one, parts or labor.
Your friend was smart for shopping.
It does make me feel good to see the techs from the HD dealer come into my Indy shop to ask questions.
