Default tank panel installation

Hey guys, probably a stupid questionbut i got a different tank panel to replace the stock one. Obviously I know what the clips that came with it are for, but what is the o-ring used for and where is it supposed to be installed.

hard to say not knowing what bike you're installing the tank panel on. I didn't use the clips or the o-ring on my '08 Fat Boy. seems the tank bib is used for both softtails and dynas.

BTW: welcome to HDF

Its on an '03 heritage classic. I mounted the clips in place but didn't know where the o-ring was supposed to go on it.

Not a lot of information but is it possibly for the speedometer? I'm assuming you are talking about a chrome panel, not a leather tank bib.

It was the leather bib. Everything seems to fit tight. Did they maybe just give me an extra part that i didn't need or something. I just couldn't figure out where it could go.

I don't think the o-ring is for softtails

Just throw it away. Its for some other model. I just went through the same question myself about two weeks ago when I put a new bib on the wifes 2001 Fatboy. That's what you get when we buy the "multi-fit" parts. I even had to punch holes in the bib we got in order to get it to fit. They are "multi-fit okay if you wantmodify them to make them fit your bike. I got one of those "O" rings too and the instructions didn't even say what it was for.
