Default Deuce problems on the road in Thailand

I am on tour in southern Thailand (no dealers near here) I have a 2004 deuce fuel injected since the last service the engine warning light is coming on intermittently and on start up the auto choke stays wide open which means the bike coughs and splutters to a halt after 1 or 2 miles. If I warm it up slowly by letting it tick over for ten minutes before pushing off it seems to work but sometimes in fifth gear when dropping the power it cuts out. I am 1000 miles from home with a basic tool kit any ideas. I have changed the plugs which helped a bit.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;During the last service the only thing done to the electonics was changing the headlight bulb. I disconnected the battery overnight to see if it would reset the electronics but no help. (oh for the days of the carborator)
Anybody have any ideas for a quick fix to get me back home.
