Coil Bracket Keeps Braking on 2000 Fatboy! WTF is going on here?
I have a friend that has a 2000 fatboy and the coil bracket keeps cracking. This is the bracket located under the seat that connects to the transmission housing. \\; We fixed the bracket and welded some gussets on the coil mount but it cracked a second time.
The bike has a very low idle, and it also vibrates pretty bad at speed (40 MPH).
Has anyone seen this before?
IS there an updated revised part for the 01 and newer bikes that may be beefier?
Would the low idle cause this normally?
Was there a recall that may have swapped to a better part and possibly this part never got switched?
Seems awefully strange and I can't see this as being normal.
Here are some pics (the pen shows were the cracks were present):
Any ideas???????????????????

RE: Coil Bracket Keeps Braking on 2000 Fatboy! WTF is going on here?
This is interesting. I too have been contending with a vibration issue on a 2000 FXST. I do not describe my vibrations as bad. They are just different than what I have experienced previously. Vibrations start at lower RPM’s and have a higher frequency (if that makes any sense). I posted a question about that here Ã*https://www.hdforums.com/m_3403469/tm.htm

I \\;initially thought that the vibrations \\;were \\;a result of  \\;a recent change to gear driven cams. As I ride the bike more, I am less sure of that correlation. I also asked my tech to check it out. He can feel the change in vibration, but cannot find any cause. Motor mounts, wheels, etc., are all within spec.
 \\;
At any rate, I checked my Coil Bracket and it looks to be intact.
