Default Belt squeeking

My belt is squeeking all the time and it is driving me crazy. There isn't much&nbsp\\;play on it. Could that be the culprit? I was thinking about loosening it up a bit, but plan on a long trip this weekend and I don't want any problems.
&nbsp\\;
The shop put the tensioner on the left side of the bike to put the axle covers on. It started to squeek a few days after they did it. Any suggestions?

My squeak turned out to be the plastic belt guard that was reinstalled wrong when the back tire was changed. I dont think the belt can squeak because it is not rubber.

My 99 did a lot. Spray some belt ease, belt dressing on it and see if it stops.

Thanks. I'll try belt dressing and see if it works. If not, back to the shop it goes, then I'm sure something else will go wrong. I hate flat rate paid technicans.

The axle is probably out of line and the belt is rubbing against the edge of the sprocket. Same thing happened to me when I put axle covers on myself. Took a little time to set it right myself by&nbsp\\;loosening and tightening the axle nuts and tensioner bolts to get properly alligned but that fixed the squeek.&nbsp\\;
