Default Rear brake light switch

It appears that I have a bad rear brake light switch on my 05 Fatty.
Do I have to bleed the brakes to install a new one?

I also have an '-5 Fatty.
About 3 weeks ago I noticed that my brake light was not working. Thinking I would also have to buy a new sending unit, I checked the connections with a multi meter and found that the switch was fine. I checked the bulb and found that the pins in the light socket had corroded to the point that it was not getting a connection. A small screwdriver was all I needed to bend the pins back out to make a good connection. All is well now.&nbsp\\; Let me know if this works for you.
&nbsp\\;
Good luck.

Did you change your grips? Sometimes the switch inside the lever snaps when you install your grips incorrectly. I know this from experience.

I changed the grips over a year ago and had no problems with any of the control switches.

It's just a small piece of plastic. Doesnt take much especially if it was cracked and over time fell off.

No change of grips. The front switch works just fine.
Took another look at it and checked the travel. Just put on new rear &nbsp\\;pads.
Gave it a hard whack on the pedal, heard a pop and it all works fine.
Something must have been stuck. If it dont go, FORCE IT.
JK, not my normal mode of repair, but in this instance it seemed to work.
