Default Need Advise on Nail in Tire (pics)

I got a nail in my front tire. I think It did not puncture the tube , the tire never whent flat. I pulled it out and its not goin flat. Do I need to replace it or should I be fine leaving it the way it is? The nail is pretty long for it to not have penetrated to the tube or is the tire really that thick? Anyone with experience on this please post ur experience. thanx!!!

i would get a new tube, take the tire off, &amp\\;&nbsp\\;inspect the&nbsp\\;existing tube for abrasion. plug the tire. you can always return the new tube for credit if the existing is ok.
&nbsp\\;
don't take chances... inspect the tube.

It seems like the above but they will patch plug it and get a new tube. if the tire has a few miles you may want to get it replaced at the same time depending what they charge for labor. I was charged 70 labor and for 110 more i could get a new tired.

you can check the tube if you wish but I would not plug the tire. maybe a internal patch, on the tire not the tube. if you put a tplug in it it could rub a hole in your tube.

I change my own tires so I would just get a new tube and patch the inside of the tire
Hell I check my tires before and after every ride

I used to work at a commercial and industrial tire shop before the Army.&nbsp\\; If u are certain it is not losing air first of all, wow, you got pretty lucky.&nbsp\\; I wouldn't worry about it too much personally.&nbsp\\; I'm sure not to much longer it would have punctured after rolling on the nail a little longer.&nbsp\\; Just be glad u caught it when you did.

Replace the tube and patch it. You leave a whole like that, how long till a rock or something on the road finds it way up there? Just my thoughts.

I think that if your going to pay the labor for someone to do this for you it should be replaced. If your going to do it yourself, you could replace the tube and patch the tire. Or you could run it and take your chances. Your front tire going&nbsp\\;flat will shut you down fast.
