Default 5th Gear Noise After 1,000 Mile Service

Just had my 1,000 mile service, after some 100 degree weather, I hear a strange "nuts and bolts" noise in fifth gear. Before the 1,000 mile service, there was no
noise what so ever in any gear! The dealer put SYN 3 in all 3 holes. I'm starting to think the oil in the tranny has something to do with it. Any suggestions????

I don't think I can get Belray here in Italy. I think I've seen some 75-90 Castrol Synthetic GL-5. Would that be ok??

I ran Syn 3 in all three holes on my 05 Ultra after first maintenance check.
It shifted fine no problems, sold bike with 35K miles on it, guy I sold it to is still using syn 3.&nbsp\\; I am now running Syn 3 in the engine of my 08 Heritage but am staying with Harley's recommended oils for Tranny and Primary.&nbsp\\; Before I bought my 08 Heritage I heard many complaints from other riders and on the Forum about 5th gear&nbsp\\;transmission noise and&nbsp\\;shifting problems when HD went to the 6 Speed.&nbsp\\; For now until I get more feedback I'll stay with the Dino.&nbsp\\; My .02 cents for now.&nbsp\\; Good luck.&nbsp\\;

Look at it this way.&nbsp\\; Bike is&nbsp\\;supposed to make noise in 5th.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; Mechanics fixed the problem for you.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
Mine has had the noise since day one and I'm not running syn3.

Thanks for the reply. I think I'm gonna drain the SYN 3 from the tranny, and try a 75W90 Gear Oil.

If it is a Harley 6 speed it will make noise in 5th.&nbsp\\; I ask about it and was told by the service tech that the 5th gear is a flat cut gear and not helical (angle) cut.&nbsp\\; All the rest are cut at an angle and curved.&nbsp\\; You will probably just get used to hearing 5th make some noise.&nbsp\\; Without a tach I at least know when I'm in 5th.

After searches on these forums and talking to an OLD Harley tech I used 75/140. No noise here.
