I rode the bike home yesterday. It was a total of 100 miles and so I now have 103 miles on the bike. The dealer said to keep it under 65 mph and did not say anything about not using 6th gear when I asked.
The speeds from Los Angeles was going from 20 - 60 and that worked out great for about the first 60 miles of the trip. I did use 6th gear when I got up to 60 - 65 because the engine did seem to be running fast.
I love the bike, it is lighter than my Goldwing and handles really nice. It is nice that I can push the bike while sitting on it verses my Goldwing.
