Don't laugh, but I just bought this thing and don't know a think about it. I know where to check the oil, but I have twisted on that thing forever and it acts like threads are stripped or something. I can't get the dipstick out. Does this have two threads (one on the dipstick and inside the hole where the dipstick goes) and could the inside one be stripped?
Forgive me. I've always had sportbike and just got this Monday. Heading to the beach with it tomorrow and just want to make sure the oil is good?
No threads at all. \\; Just pull on the dipstick (pardon the pun) in the right side (sitting on the bike) of the oil tank. \\; Then go and buy a manual.  \\;
The engine has to be warmed up before checking the oil. On my 2005 Fat Boy you check the oil level while it is on the jiffy stand. Don't know if the 2004 model dipsticks \\;were setup for checking the oil level with the bike straight up or on the jiffy stand
Tom
just pull on it like u pull on?????????. o by the way the engine has to be running
I hope you're just pulling his leg. \\;\\\\\\; Check oil with the engine warmed up, but NOT running, twist and pull in one motion. \\;\\\\\\; I'm sure if you call the local dealer they'll tell you whether the bike should be straight and level or on the jiffy stand. \\; And by all means, get a manual.
Warm the bike up for a couple of minutes, turn it off \\;and then just pull out the dipstick and check it with the bike on it's sidestand.
