Default Rider ticketed for handlebars too high!!

Heard on the radio that a rider was stopped by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and ticketed because his handlebars were more then 15" above the seat.&nbsp\\; THE BIKE WAS STOCK.&nbsp\\; Chances are it was a Harley, because his wife/gf was riding a Sportster.&nbsp\\; What's next? Seatbelts and airbags?&nbsp\\; OMG...I hope the State took bids and contracted out the work of creating an official Ohio State Highway Patrol tape measure.&nbsp\\; I mean, why not, it only cost money!

Ha!
Seatbelts on a Bike.&nbsp\\; That's as silly as a Helicopter ejection seat.&nbsp\\; Don't lawmakers, cops, have better things to do?&nbsp\\; It's always about $ isn't it.&nbsp\\; Halliburton probably makes the tape measure for $400.00 each&nbsp\\;with a no bid contract for every Ohio State Patrolman.

There must have been another reason he was stopped.
What bike has bars 15 inces higher than the seat stock?

wide glide.
A stock Softail Custom might fit the bill too.

I know in CT, the law on handlebars is not to exceed higher than the shoulders of the rider, no inches per say....

that is just weird, he must have been doing something to get pulled over. Cause bikes rarely get pulled over here, even with their 'illegal' pipes, crazy apes...mostly jap bikes/crotch rockets i see all the time pulled over.

be interesting to see if they got fined for anything else, and being a clown to the cop never works in your favor.

I can't believe he couldn't beat that&nbsp\\; - IF (and it's a big IF) his bike is bone stock.&nbsp\\; if it's not stock, he's got 2 alternatives.... 1. move 2. bring his bike into compliance.

I think my question fits the topic. I'm pretty sure I'm going&nbsp\\;to put taller ape hangers on my softail custom, but was wondering if anybody knows how the laws work when traveling out of state... What I mean is, here in Pennsylvania there is no handlebar height restriction, but in the states&nbsp\\;I travel to most often, New York, and Ohio do have restrictions. I've looked all over the internet trying to answer whether or not I can travel through a "restricted" state as long as my bike is registered and inspected in PA. or if I'm gonna be hassled by the man.

You could get hassled. The law in your state doesnt mean anything to the cops in their state. My son rides a Wide Glide with 16 inch bars and has no problem in CA or NV but riding through AZ he got pulled over. Officer kindly warned him and suggested he loosen the bars and pull them back until he got out of state.
