Default Serious 03' Night Train buildup/makeover.....

Thought I'd share my own softail project with the forum board. Bought my bike new back in early 04'. Put a few hundred miles on her, decided I needed to strip it down to the frame and give it a proper makeover. She is going to be ALL go with some show added. I'll give a quick list of the parts offhand and add some pics etc. as she stands now within the next few days.

Ill split the list up into 2 categories: Show and Go.

Major mods and parts for the "Go" category

The engine was dissassembled down to the case and built from the ground up:

1. Timken crank bearing conversion
2. Crank rebalanced and knife edged, 4.00" stroke)
3. Axtell 97" nikasil cylinder kit (all aluminum cylinders with nikasil lining, no iron liners) w/ 3.938" diameter pistons.
4. Stage III cylinder heads
5. Andrews gear drive conversion
6. Feuling cam plate w/ HD niche bearings
7. Feuling Super pump
8. Jims hydrosolid tappets
9. Hurricane adjustable pushrods
10. Woods 9BG cams
11. Jims roller rockers
12. CP forged 12:1 static CR pistons
13. TFCI III Fuel injection kit
14. SE 6 speed tranny
15. Primary compensating sprocket lock nut mod
16. 3.37 gearing(primary)
17. Barnett clutch pack and HD clutch spring
18. BC Gerolomy dual independant 50mm runner EFI intake
19. CUstom K&N intake filter
20. Bassani Pro Street pipes
21. Accel exhaust wrap

This is a quick list of the "go" parts. Tommarow Ill add the list of "show" parts, along with some current pics of the bike in progress in its build up.

TIll then!

Super

The static compression is around 12:1 calculated with the head gaskets and chamber volume, but the actual running compression will be a bit lower. My squish band has also been fine tuned with about .025 clearance for better fuel mixture efficiency. The TFCI closed loop fuel controller will also help to allow me to get away with it as I will run my fuel mixture relatively rich across the board. Plus I have 93 octane fuel available to me in this state, and the local Sunoco station also sells 100 octane gas as well.

Hehe, to keep the suspense going, Im going to list some of the "show" parts now. Honestly, there are too many parts to list, so I'll break it down this way: The only ORIGINAL parts left on my 03' Train is 3/4 of the frame(partly modified and chopped),the FI wiring harness, and the engine case(which has been modified). SO Ill include a list of the MAJOR show parts:

1. 18x5.5 and 18x3.5 polished solid disk rims
2. Avon Venom R tires(180mm rear, 130mm front)
3. Heartland 180 kit w/ black wrinkle struts
4. Custom stretched(by yours truly)fat bob tank w/ 7.5 gallon fuel capacity
5. HD chin spoiler
6. SS braided brake,clutch,throttle,oil,fuel lines
7. HD speedo/tach combo gauge and flush mounted tank hardware
8. HD 52mm black inverted forks w/ street slammer bar and black hardware/hand controls
9. RRR Heartland detachable passenger pillion/solo backrest
10. blacked out floating rotors, narrow belt sprocket
11. HD billet forward controls and hardware
12. Chrome fastening hardware throughout
13. HD black finned cover set
14. HD billet headlamp shell

Way too many other parts to list, but Ill let the pics I post later today speak for themselves......
