Angry Pillion Scratched my Fender

I have a 2007 Street Bob. A while back I bought the passenger pillion and installed it correcly with the bumper kit (those little black sticky pads). I even installed them on the fender side, using the template in the exact spots that I was instructed to.

Well, I just removed the pillion and the fender is all scratched up in multiple places. Most of the damage is actually from the staples under the pillion (the staples that hold the material to the bottom). I have a few deep scratches and the "staple effect" marked into the fender like a stripe on each side.
By the way, pillion was only sat on once! This damage was a direct result of following the HD pillion installation instructions. This has to be a product flaw.

What are my options here? Has anyone had this problem? Since I installed it correctly and HD can even look at where the bumper pads are, will HD pay for the repair or paint it for me?
Please help...this really ticked me off!
Thanks.

gee wizz that sux ... I'd be riding the beast straight back to the dealer. BUT you can almost hear them now telling you that you must have had a passenger exceeding the recommended weight of the seat ...... good luck

Probably not covered by dealer...if not try Meguires polishes, #2 #1 wax etc. That might help

SORRY - Didn't notice you had Denim Paint...forget the Meguires!

I was somewhat concerned about the Pillion scratching my fender too; I have the Mustang Tripper & Passenger Pillion. I also bought the fender bib and I put the seat directly in top of it.

Auto body stores have film protective sheets you can buy. Wife's 08 Heritage, had one under the passenger seat, we kept it for the template. I have tried other things from the pads to felt, this works for us.
