Default Softail PCIII install

Does anyone take any special precautions when installing the PCIII behind the rear tire splash guard? Does anyone keep the usb cord plugged in all the time and coiled under the seat for future map changes? Thanks guys.

Not me i just used the little plug things that came with it and then zip tied the unit where the siren is to be placed. whenever i need to remap i just put the bike in the lift and remove the splash guard. I make sure i blow off the unit before i remove the inserts, then insert the cord. Done. Over 10,000 miles so far no problems.

I keep my USB coiled under the seat; I've changed my pipes 3x along with 3 Dynos and my local indy would have charged me an extra $25 if he had to take off the splash guard for each re-mapping. Simply put, I saved $75! Yeah and with the $75 savings I bought more upgrades...lol.

I keep it plugged in, but this is more because removing my seat is a bit of a chore.

I loaded up the plug with dielectric grease and left the USB plugged in and coiled under the seat.

I had mine behind the splash guard and it was takin a beating because of the suspension travel. I moved it to under the seat. Didnt want it there because of heat but its more protected. Seat takes about 2 minutes to get off if I need to.
