Default Heritage-harsh ride

I have a 2000 heritage with 10,000 miles.I have it about six months and put 1500 miles on it.I had been riding early 80's goldwing and the harley ride is much harsher.
Is this normal or is there something I can do.
The bike had been sitting for about 9 months when I got it.Should I change the fork oil and where can I get the spanner wrench to adjust the rear suspension?

spanner wrench from Harley, about 10 bucks. You can have it checked out and see if there is a broken/worn spring or something.

I would do what you're thinking. If that doesn't fix the problem, then for sure have it checked out. I never owned a Goldwing or any other heavy cruiser, but I would think that a Heritage will always ride a little different than what you have become use to. JMHO

It's an eight year old bike with some mileage. Your might have your fork oil changed and consider replacing your swingarm shocks. An Air Ride system will smooth out the ride too.

Look under your bike and you should be able to see if your shocks are set to the soft or firm position. You will be looking at the forward end of the shocks, between the retention nut and where the shocks mount. If you see 4 threads on each shock shaft, they are at the softest setting , if there are no threads showing they are at the firmest setting. You can buy the shock spanner wrench at the dealership for around $5. Then you need a short 1 1/8" open end wrench. All I had handy was a 1" open end so I used a dremel to open it up to 1 1/8" then cut the wrench down to about 5" long.

Normal...Like said above...get the wrench and adjust the pre-load on shocks!! It's gonna be a little rougher ride!! Your trying to compare it to your "Lazy-boy" chair on wheels!!

Yeah, that's what I was gonna post. You can't compare a Honda to a Harley. Hondas are made to not feel the ride, and strictly get you from one place to the next. Harley's are made strictly to feel the ride, and possibly get you from one place to the next... eventually... if you feel like it.
