Hey Guys,
I am in the process of ordering a new seat, I've heard different thing on this..... some say the Gel insert is great, other say it gets hot and hard after a while, please give your opinion on this, if you have it or tried it. is it worth getting????

never wanted a gel insert/covers for the following reasons.

1. Always seemed like a temporary fix to a permanent problem.
B. the covers, will sit you a little higher, which i would never want
3. could get hard and hot

we bought a gel and it didn't fix the problem so we sent it back

 

I have gel cut into the foam of the solo seat I use and for me its a must. What a difference it makes. I recommend it.

Love it...live in Austin, Tx....been over 100 degrees for over 30
days in a row this summer and the gel never got "HOT".
Sure, the leather seat is warm when I first sit
down but the GEL does not "Store" any heat...

Won't have another Harley without a Saddlemen seat with "GEL"

Made a 3,000 mile, 8 day trip to the Grand Canyon in April, 45 days
after having surgery on a herniated L5/S1 disk... a little sore at night
but while riding never had a problem.

 

The gel pad rounds out the seat, it seems like you are sitting on a round tree trunk. I don't reccomend it.

 

I have a HD dimondback solo. Not a bad seat but after sending it to these guys it's a lot nicer.

They shaved the seat got me a bit lower and back, added gel and feels 'normal' but just more comfort in a long haul.

I have a gel insert in my seat, and I don't know it is there.

As such I can't speak to the benefits, but I havn't noticed any detriments.
