Default Help! Screws on signal light/horn control housing assbly not tightening

I was just finishing up replacing the left side hand grip with a diamond black grip, and tried to tighten down the screws that secure the assembly that houses the turn signal/horn control, and the screws would not tighten. Is there heli coils in there that will deteriorate? What can I do? Approximate cost to fix? Please keep in mind that I'm fairly new to Harley and am self teaching from the service manual. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like they are stripped out. They wouldnt deteriorate unless you cross threaded or over tightened them. You may be looking for a new switch.

THey EASILY strip out. Just a Q, but you DO USE a TORQUE wrench for ALL screws on your motorcycle right? When scews only require a few newton meters of force to tighten it is real easy to hand strip screws............especially in an aluminum housing.

is everything lined up and no wires getting trapped or the grips in the correct place?sorry if you have stripped the thread. but it might be worth thinking about swapping to chrome, if it does need replacing. but i find hand tight with a little blue loctite is fine.
