Talking Do I need metric tools?

Harley newbie (2006 Heritage Classic). Is there any reason to carry metric tools in my tool kit?

The only metric wrenches you need on your bike will be brake caliper and carburetor, other than that, you will be fine. Bring an adjustable wrench, you have both world lol.

128auto is right. The brake caliper is a #10 12 point (if I remember correctly) while the pad pins are 1/4" 12 point. Kinda wierd to me. Also, check your battery connections, they are probaby #10 metric. If so, I'd throw in a #10 end wrench that's 12 point. Haven't run across anything else.

Battery terminals are 10 mm. Check your manual it tells what metric bolts you have.

Bring a small left hand metric adjustable and you'll be fine.

Thanks. I'll leave out the metric Torx and metric allens. The tool kit was getting kinda heavy.

For a road kit the only metric I would bother with is the 10mm for the battery. Anything more involved that that, like brake parts, leave the tools at home for when you have the time and space to work on it properly.
Fortunately even if you do have a serious problem with the brakes. Bikes have two independent systems so a problem with one won't affect the other and you should still be able to get home. You just need to plan your stops sooner/better and make damn sure you keep your distance from the 18 wheeler or cager riding his brake pedal in front of you.

Make sure you have a 5/8 wrench to tighten up the rear sprocket bolts.
