Default Has this ever happened to you while riding?

While riding my dipstick cap I quess loosend and sent a large amount of oil all over the left side of my bike. In the 1 1/2 years that I have owned this bike it has never happened. It seems really loose but when I checked a riding buddys bike his bike's cap felt like it really doesn't seat all that great either. I'm wondering if any of you have ever had this problem or if you've found a fix to this.

One of the guys I ride with had a similar problem. When he dismounted, the heal of his boot would catch the oil dipstick and pull it up enough it would let oil jump out. I guess the rubber could shrink over time and cause it to be loose. Sounds like and excuse to spend some $$ on parts to me.

You had over filled your oil.. too much oil
equals blow out dip stick and oil all over the place.
NEVER add oil to a cold engine... oil in engine
sump will refill oil tank when hot and poof.

I have heard a overfill will cause this but had no direct experience with it. Might be a good excuse to tell the wife you need a new dipstick with a oil pressure gauge of course !

Mine has come loose a bit but never blew oil out. I usually take a rag and wipe the rubber seat off and the inside of the bag lip so it sticks a bit better. I have the oil temp dipstick also. Analog.
