Default lowered 2008 Fatty with Progressive 422 *NICE*

just got back from a 300 mile hike in the mountains, and have to say these 422's do give a true positive feel. I also lowered my scoot by 1 inch. being from quebec, canada the roads up here are rough to say the least, compared to our southern partners. Overall I can say that these 422 are a true upgrade from the originals and do recommend them.

Thumbs up

I just did the Progressive 422 on my 08 Fatty and I tend to agree with you. Still in the process of fine tuning the ride height and preload though.

My Progressive 422's just arrived and will be installed in a week or so on my Heritage. Anyone wanna suggest a preload setting with it lowered 1.25 inches and 2 up riding of about 300+ lbs total. Are they set pretty good right out of the factory?

Right now mine are about 1/2 turn out from all the way in. I'm gonna try 1 turn out tomorrow and post back what I find. I weigh in around 240 if that helps you. They are ez to adjust but I find I like the $10 Harley Softail shock wrench better than the one that comes with.

I really want to get 422 and lower the bike a bit but I hate floorboards scraping.

My instructions said that they were set to the "lightest" preload from the factory. I stiffened mine up as I'm a big dude and the misses isn't quite a supermodel. I don't recall how stiff I went, I know it wasn't all the way, about half way between stock setting and max setting.

When I ride solo it is tooo stiff, with her on, just about right. So for you, with a combined 2 up total of around 300 pounds, you might be fine with the stock setting, if you find yourself bottoming out, stiffen it up a touch.
