Wink Standard FXSTC mufflers

Can anyone tell me if the US standard mufflers, part no. 65842-07, have catalytic converters in them. The ones we have in Australia do (different part no.). If they don't have the cats, I intended to get a pair and remove the baffles, as they would be less restrictive than ours. Thanks John

Just looked at my Canadian 65842-07s hanging on the wall. I say no they are not cats. They are really heavy though.

Thanks Ron. Just inside the INLET end where it opens up to the muffler, there will be a honeycomb looking thing which fills the muffler. John

Since it came off as a unit and headpipes are still attached I can't see that end. I think it would be stamped as cat if it was? Only has epa mention of noise. Hopefully someone has one to view at and respond to your question tonight. If not I'll pull one of the pipes off tomorrow afternoon and take a look. I do remember them as being really stinky for the first 2k when I rolled into the shed like cars that have cats. Could have been the glass cooking too.

Since nobody responded I went out and took the headpipe off. Inside it's a straight tube with a baffle about mid point. Ahead of the baffle there are a few holes around the circumferance but only about 2-3 inches ahead of it. Man that thing is restrictive, and it is not catalytic. Hope that's enough info to go on.
