Default Chrome Toolbox on 2008 Deluxe

Has anyone else tried to install the HD Chrome Toolbox on their 08 Deluxe? Apparently, something changed in 08 making the toolbox a no-go. For the life of me I cannot figure out what it is, but I sort of have my mind set on the toolbox. I like the size, look and location.

Thanks for any help...

Although the P&A catalog only lists it for the 2007, there are numerous listings in there that only say "2007" that will also fit the 2008 models. Check with your dealer's parts guy. If you have the Deluxe saddlebags you might run into a problem there, also.

They changed the swing arm. I have bought many parts that fit an 07, not a 08.

Hmmm, does this mean it is a definite no-go? I have not yet tried it, but the last thing I need are more parts sitting in the garage getting dusty...

I tried one, and the bolts don't match up.

My local hd parts guy says this also applies to the Heritage. Since I wasn't aware of any frame difference from 07 to 08 I didn't think he knew what he was talking about. Almost bought the toolbox anyway.

I converted a windshield bag to a tool bag, I can carry quite a bit of tools on the road.

Yep, there are unique P/Ns for '08s. I have the left and right side boxes on my Night Train (with the brackets powdercoated black to match the frame).

right side = 64227-08
left side = 64230-08

HTH!
