Default Fat Boy Wobble

Handlebars wobble between 38-45mph. Bad wheel balance? My head bearings are adjusted right so I know that can be eliminated from the equation.

My thought is lousy wheel balance from the factory.

I too have a wooble, but only on decel between 35-40 mph. Did you adjust your head bearings? If so what was the procedure and TQ specs? I have a 2008 Night Train, and stealer says all is good. Not so as it was not this way when new. I have 13000 miles on it now and new tires. Any help would be great. Thanks

On both bikes I would remove the front wheel (if your sure the head bearings are OK) and take to someplace that can balance it for me. Personally I always like to start at the wheel and work my way up. I think the MOCO's "fall away" procedure for checking the head bearings leaves them just a bit too loose. On my SE-Deuce, I just snugged down the notched nut until the head was a bit tighter than the requited specs, then I tightened down the top nut to the called for torque specs, and I got rid of all wobble in the front end.

I had to take my bike in before it hit 200 miles because the front end was clunking pretty bad over bumps. It's been fine ever since. So to answer your question the dealer adjusted the bearings, not me.

I'm just wondering if this wobble is specific just to Fat Boys.

Mine has a wobble at about 40 if I ease up or let go of the bars. Never noticed it before. Dont like it at all.
I dont let go of the bars.

I think the fall away procedure leaves them too loose. Remember to losten the tripple tree clamps so the lower will come up and just tighten them down. my Fatboy used to wobble until I really snugged them up. now she's perfect.

Tire balance, maybe alil grease in the neck is needed and of course get your fall away checked again you never know they may have to tighten it alil more. you have a certain spec to be in and it may need to be tighter.
