I use Firehouse Customs backrest. Bolts on to the seatpan and works fairly well. Takes about 5 minutes to put it on or take it off. I just leave it on and like the support it gives me even for riding around town.

+1 for the Firehouse backrest. Simple to install, and very comfortable on my 07 Herritage.

Does the firehouse backrest fold down? My wife is no longer a spring chicken so getting her to "hop up" will be a trick...

No, and it's also not adjustable. But it seems to get alot of positive reviews. I'm happy with my stock Heritage seat and not too anxious to spend the bucks for a full Mustang seat/backrest upgrade.

I've been using my solo tourpak as the backrest on my Heritage but may give the Firehouse customs a try. My wife has her own bike now and I can't get her to ride 2 up anymore. So that's not an issue.

Having back problems and seeing how great it is to ride with my tourpak as a backrest I'm pretty much sold on the whole backrest idea.

Looked at the firehouse web site like the looks of the back rest. Ask the wife if she could handle getting on and off with it there. She said go ahead and order it and we'll find out.

I bought the Firehouse Customs Backrest mostly for longer trips, but it's such great support that I won't take it off. Wife has no problem getting on or off the bike with it.

+1 for the Firehouse backrest. Very well made. The bracket is heavy duty, nice firm pad. Great folks to deal with and prompt shipping.
