Default Rear Brake Drag

My rear rotor gets so hot after a ride I can't touch it. My front rotor stays cool to the touch. The backing plates for the rear pads have now turned blue from the heat.

Lifting the bike there is some drag but not excessive. I've pulled the caliper twice and I see no problems whatsoever.

From what I've read the front caliper pulls the pistons back when the brake lever is released but the rear doesn't which leaves a bit of dragging.

Has anyone else had a hot rotor?

My 06 Heritage does the same thing, in fact, I need new rear brakes after 8500 miles. Everything seems to be working properly and I don't get excessive brake dust........

Haven't ever checked mine, so I'm just thinking out loud here... if your rear wheel was a little bit out of alignment, could that cause some brake drag? Might be worth checking?

Same thing on my 03 Fat Boy. I took to the dealer and had them go through it and they said no problem at all.

I guess I just never noticed it before.

if you have floor boards you are letting your foot rest against the brake pedal
keep your hand on the front brake all day long and you will get the same thing

Your rotor is right next to some very hot exhaust pipes. My 99 Heritage did it and now my 07 and my bros 07 do it.
