OK, anyone tell me why the 07 NT front tire wears more on the rt side (sitting on the bike looking forward)? My first tire lasted about 6200 miles and I've got about 5000 on the replacement and its getting pretty worn on the right side again and I'll probably have to change it in the next 1000! I'm running the HD Dunlops.

my tires have lasted 10,400 miles and a friend with same bike lasted 8900 I think you have a problem

 

Stock wheels ? : Inflation issue
A) What tire pressure are you running?
B) Do you check it regularly ?


Aftermarket Wheels ? : Spacing issue
A) Depending on the wheels, some aftermarket manufacturers require new (different thickness) wheel spacers
B) Some aftermarket manufacturers wheels are not as strong as stock steel wheels and the new wheel could be bent.

 

I got 12k out of my front, '07 fxst. It will wear more on the right because the right side of the bike is heavier. 6200 miles? Do you favor your front brake? Live in an unusually hot climate? It seems as though something is not right. I get about 7000 out of a back tire and about 12000 out of a front. And I ride kinda hard.

 

I'm going to post my findings on this in the suspension section for more responses.

i wish i got 6k out of a tire. i usually get between 4500 and 5000 max. they say it is riding habits. i live at the dragon and ride it often.

 

Softails only get less than 10K out of a FRONT tire? I get over 20K on my 19 incher.
Wearing on right side means something's out of alignment.

 

I had the same issue with my stock D402. I changed mine out around 7500 to the D407.. I have an 07 nightrain.. I did the nitrogen fill on tires for more consistent pressure supposable. Riding buddy has an 06 softail standard and his did the same with the D402 tires. Been told it could be due to lane preference too.. We'll see what happens with this new tire. And he blows through rear tires too D205..

 

I have a '06 Standard...12,000+ on the original Dunlop front and it's almost worn out on the right side...and I'm sure it's in alignment...nature of the beast IMO.

 

This issue has been discussed before and a lot of guys reported having this problem including me. The right side of my front tire was gone at 7500 on my 06 standard. Nobody really came up with a good answer why it happens.
