My Stage 1 results...
I know there are many, many threads on Stage 1...but I am going to kill a couple birds with a single stone here..
SERT, V&H True Duals (with fishtail tips and quiet baffles), SE hi-flo a/c...first off, the dyno read out was 72+ horsepower, and 86.72 ft/lbs of tourque. I had them also put on the chrome, round air cleaner cover with the chrome back plate.
Rides very, very strong! And the difference is noticeable to this novice rider (had the bike only 7 months), particularly when I crank it out of the community. It runs like a scalded dog to me coming up through the gears. And it runs much, much cooler...no more heat frying my right thigh...but gotta remember where your left leg is now, particularly when at a stop, as there is an exhaust pipe on that side that will remind you to stop with your left leg out more than you'd normally put it.
The noise is noticeably more than the stock pipes, but it's more a deep rumble than "noise" and it what I was looking for. At normal throttle input it's certainly not obnoxious, but when you pop the throttle she barks loud and clear. I love the sound, the level of sound, and I actually think I do hear it get a little deeper each day I ride her...
Okay, just wanted to let everyone know my impression of a Stage 1 modification with Vance & Hines...be sure to remember to get the chrome backplate, though, when you get the chrome, round a/c cover...the stock posts are gunmetal gray and stick out badly and make the cover look like someone forgot to finish the job...I am very, very pleased with the additions and the ride.

Not sure who you meant either...but here's a right side view. I really think the chrome, round a/c cover adds a lot to the look...like I said, though, gotta be mindful of that left side pipe...it's hot!! And the first several times I hit it...but you learn.
I don't know why I didn't get any more HP or torque. I'm not a mechanically inclined person, don't do any of the work on my motorcycle (I'd just have to take it in to have what I had screwed up fixed anyway...saves money by knowing my limitations), and don't know really how my numbers stack up against others. I know, of course, that it's not going to run like a 103" bike, or anything with "heat" like a cam or something like that. But I can tell quite the difference when I get on her, and really that's what I was after...that increased performance and the sound from the pipes.
I am not much of a long-distance rider, and about an hour and a half, give or take, is pretty much the limit before I have to get off and rest this 58-year old butt...but I still live to crank it now and then. My wife used to say "zip zip zip" when we'd go riding as she likes to hit it now and then (she says that's what owning a Harley is all about...), and when we went on a ride Friday and I hit it exiting our little community, she grabbed my shoulders and said no more zip zip zip...it's now kowabunga, let 'er rip!
