installed the lowering bolts
i installed the burly lowering kit and lowered my nightrain about 1.25 inch. it's a little bit stiffer than the stock and i actually cut my hand on the handle bar when i hit a huge pothole on the interstate. i rode 250 miles today and it handled great (i didn't lower the front) overall. i'm just trying to find out how it handles and i had a hard time staying in my line at first. i think it's just the stock drag bars giving me a hard time on counter steering compared to my last bike. i just pushed harder and it was ok afterwards.
the dealership quoted me 2.5 hours of labor to install it and i decided to do it myself. i did get an offer from a friend who works at a car dealership with all the equipment (jacks and press) so i took him up on it. it took us about 1.5 hours to install. overrall though, there's no way that i could have done it myself in my garage with a sears lift that i bought. the shocks were "locktight" hard and i have to use a press to disassemble the shocks to install the lowering kit. good thing i have a hookup on the necessary equipment (press, pro tools to remove the bolts, and two different jacks) from my friend's auto shop.
looks awesome lowered though and it was worth it.

I just installed the profile low lower shocks on my Fatboy and love the look. They lowered it about an inch which was perfect. I adjusted the preload last weekend b/c the ride was a little soft. I took her out for about 120 miles yesterday and the ride is back to the the stock feel but an inch lower so I am happy. My brother in law was riding behind me and said he thought I was going to drag the primary on a turn.

thanks. i usually ride with my hand close to the fat part of the handle bar with the turn signals etc. the bump jolted me pretty hard that it rubbed the skin on that area. minor scratch but had some dried blood on it. bike looks awesome slammed though. still thinking about lowering the front.
did you have to get new cables for that handlebar?
