Default need help adjusting 06 heritage softail shocks

i followed the link to fatbillscustoms.com and the directions he gave for adjusting the shocks for 2 up riding. i git the right side with no problem.
however on the leftside( kickstand side) i turn the shock counterclockwise but the long bolt that goes throught the shock keeps turning and backing out. how can i stop this thing from turning and get the shock adjusted?
thanks steve

You need to use a short or cut off 1-1/16" open end wrench "so it will fit under the frame" on the lock nut. Run the nut counter clockwise all the way out and tighten it against the frame. that'll stop it from spinning.

I would guess that the shock body is turned too tight to the soft position. The hardest part for my first shock adjustment was breaking the loctited retention nuts loose.
When you get both shocks to loosen up and start turning. Turn both of them all the way either to the soft or hard position. Paint a forward/aft white stripe on the shock bodies. Then when you make shock adjustments it will be easy to count how many times you turn each shock. It is important to keep them equal. When I adjust the shocks to all the way soft or firm, I back them off just a bit, so they are not jammed in place. This makes it easy when you need to turn them again.
Once I have the wrenches in hand, it takes me about 2 minutes to adjust the shocks. It is just the first time that is a PITA.
