Default Lowering the Shifter

I keep seeing threads about people lowering their heel-toe shifter on their bike and was wondering on how one would do this. I dont like the idea that I have to lift my foot up so high to change gears. I have a 2004 Carb Fatboy. I dont have the HD Service Manual yet.

Any help would be great.

Thanks.

You can do it two ways.

1. Pop of the levers change it to the next spline and see where it sits. This allows you to change both the toe and heel shifters to custom angles.

2. Adjust the Shift linkage by disconnecting the heim joint and tightening the link.

Just be aware there is a Minimum clearance suggested by Harley, It is like 1/2 inch at the bottom of the stroke. Measured off of the floor board. I think this is important to ensure you do not cause excessive wear on the Tranny. You also need to be aware that your boards flex when you drag the boards in a corner.

Hope that helps
