Default Fuel cross over line when removing the tank question

What is up with the fuel cross over line when removing the tank? Cut the factory clamp and use a hose clamp? Some say to cut the hose. Some say to upgrade to SS line. Does anyone even see this line normally? What do you recommend?

I cut mine and replaced with hose n clamps. The hose is black, you don't really see it under there.

You can do whatever you like. You can cut the factory clamps and replace them with hose clamps or buy the tool they have and put factory clamps back on them.

I cut the clamps and got hose clamps at the auto parts store.

I'm not too keen on screw type clamps. They can and do become loose sometimes but that's mostly because of heat. You can get the crimping tool from an auto supply store for about 12 bucks, IMHO a much better connection. Just my .02

Personaly I would replace with a srew type clamp. They are much better, just don't over tighten them......people crank on them till they start to cut the hose. Crimp on clamps are put on for one reason......cost and speed of installation.

Default Use a braided SS by Russell

Check this link that someone posted in another thread:

http://www.jpcycles.com/productgroup...1-F914876A749D

It's a braided Stainless Steel crossover with compression fittings, so no clamps. I saw it on a rider's bike up at the shop. Looks very sharp. He said it's been on about 2 years with no problems. Taken on and off a couple of times as well for under tank connector work.

I'm gonna do mine as soon as UPS brings it!!

There's another ss braided crossover line with the compression fittings that has a quick disconnect coupling in the center so when you need to remove your tank you pop the coupling loose & it has a fuel shut off in each end that keeps the gas from running out.

It is a higher price but solves the problem of a gas mess or draining.

I put the HD braided line on mine and bought some spare rubber seals for it should I have to take it off.
