Default 2 inch springs on Crossbones seat???

I just recieved my 2 inch springs for my crossbones seat and I have a question.
The black plastic pieces that go into the spring and slide onto the 2 posts on the bottom of the springs, well they do not lock into the 2 inch springs like they do on the original springs. Is there different pieces for the 2 inch springs ? or do I use the originals even though they dont lock the rear of the seat down.

Once you put it on the posts it should expand to make a tight fit. If not I would suggest wraping it in something like black electircal tape or anything that will increase the diameter so that when put on the seat spring posts it will expand for a tight fit. I put the 2" on my bike and sliped the black pieces into the springs. It was a REALLY tight fit but it fit for the springs I got. Then I sat on it and it bottomed out..... 200lbs...

I dont think wrapping it in tape would work, its a big difference. My biggest worry is that if I hit a big bump while riding down the road, the springs would bounce off the post.
Something just is not right here with these springs.

I used tape on mine and 6,000 miles later they are still there. When you wrap the tape around the plastic make it a really tight fit.

I am going to make a couple bushings this weekend that have a better fit out of nylon to completely replace the stock black ones. Will post pics on how it turns out. (pun not intended)

I am not 100% happy with the replacement springs. The definitely cannot handle as much weight as the OEM springs, but I like the height of them. So far the rides are a little more comfortable.

Good feedback on the 2 inch springs. I was worried about the fit on the stock posts and then also about the 1 inch loss of clearance. I am 215 lbs and i do compress the stock springs when I sit on them. I was worried the 2 inchers would bottom out easily. Also, I lowered the rear end and I was wondering if the 2 inch springs would lead to my a$$ sliding off the back of the seat since the angle of the seat would be further sloped toward the rear w/ the smaller springs.

Where did you buy your 2" springs?

I bought my 2" seat springs from Lee's Speed Shop on EBAY for about 8 bucks and they fit perfectly in place of the stockers. No problems at all with the ride even with 280 lbs. Apparently all springs are not created equal.

A slightly loose fit over the spring posts will be fine as long as your front mount is tight... enough where the seat is snug/binding in front and will keep it from moving off the spring posts even under harsh bumpy conditions

I got my 2" springs from Drag Specialties. The small end was a perfect fit for the factory bushings.

At 175lbs the bike rides softer than the factory 3". They will bottom but it takes a good sized sharp bump in the road.
