Default Vance Hines on an 04 Fatboy

Hi all!

Anyone have problems with the header bolts loosening up?

It seems I have to tighten mine about every 100 miles or so.

What gives?

I just installed V/H BSS on mine and plan to check the bolts at 500mi. My stock pipe bolts were still tight when I removed them with the exception of one that seemed a little more loose than the others. This was at ~2600 mi. I tightened mine per the service manual torque spec and alternated the top and bottom bolt when tightening it.

Thanx! Let me know if you gotta tighten em much. Every 100 mi. I gotta hank on mine. Sometimes they loosen up pretty good. I'm not sure if I f anything up by putting on a lock nut or washer. I geuss I'll contact VH cuz this is getting old. Everytime I go out at the end of the ride I hear a pist of an exaughst leak. I'm geussing it's cause the engine is'nt on mounts.

Solution: Double nuts, lock them tight.

I just install vance and hines big radius on my bike @2200 miles and the stock nuts were a little loose, scince then I have checked the nuts on these and they have loosened up a little, then about a week ago I went to take off the front pipe to install oil pressure gauge kit and ya they were loose..I don't want to put any loctite on them but I am considering self locking nuts torqued down...
