Picked up a nail the other day, so it's tire time. Reading the service manual it says to remove the pads and rotor. WTF are they talking about. From a quick visual it looks like to unbolt the caliper and move it out and away from the wheel. The caliper mount will now come out when the wheel is move back along with the spacer. What am I missing here other than it looks like I need to grow a third arm to hold all these parts in place for reassembly?

You dont have to take the rotor off to pull wheel off. The reason you have to remove the rotor when you have a tire mounted. The tire changing machine wont clear with rotor on wheel, SO i have been told.
One thing the manual may not tell you is that the rear slip-on, if you're running the stock exhaust, will need to come off. This is so you can pull the axle out. But I got my manual in 06, so maybe it's been updated.
I hang my caliper from a bungee. Saves one hand. If you put your axle in from the other direction then you won't have to pull your slip on off again the next time. Remember it has a cotter pin for a reason. Been doing it that way for years on all my bikes.
