Apes for my Heritage? Who's got em?
I'm thinking about getting some apes for my (03) Heritage & I have a couple questions:
1) How big should I go?
2) How does it look (Post some pics if you have em)!
3) Anyone near St.Louis area that has em? I would like to sit on one that already has em to see how it "feels". (I live out in Ofallon,MO)
4) Bout How much did they run ya?
5) Are they worth it?
6) If I go w/ apes do I have to lose my windshield?
I've got an APE itch I am dying to scratch -

Height is a personal choice. I have 16" apes by www.wild1inc.com I like them. But there are numerous companies out there making and selling apes. Here are a few pics.

Here's a couple of pix of what I did this summer.
They are Carlini Fly'n Apes 18" - tot cost of project ~$800.00 (labor I did myself). One thing to note about these bars they are 1.5" so that added about 150.00 to the cost because of the riser that got from carlini - not everyone makes a good looking 1.5" riser.
At first before purchase I wanted 16's but found a pretty good deal on these 18's so went with the 18's. I think I would have wondered/regretted if went with the 16's.
Are they worth it - I'd have to say hell yeah makes the bike really stand out..
I had to lose my windshield but to tell yeah it's not all that bad the bars do break some of the wind - unlike no windshield and running with beach bars, no wind breakage...

I have the 12.5 wild 1 chubbys. The seat height is lower so they are most likely more comparable to a 15" ape. My wife rides the bike some and when she does she uses a windshield so there is no problems with that. Cost will depend on how much you shop around for everything. I would figure on spending around $4-500 if you do it yourself.
