Default Cross Bones - true duals/fishtails question

Hi Guys, I really like the look of the true duals/fishtail type set-ups but I have one query. What is the ground clearance like?

I appreciate I haven't bought a race bike (used to have a Dyna that did grind the SEII's at a pinch) but I am getting a little fed up with grounding out the boards on the corners. Does anyone who has a dual exhaust system suffer from grounding out?

Pipes like this cost a fortune in the UK and I wouldn't want to go through all that expense only to find I have to go round corners standing up!

Any experiences?

All the best

Walt

I have just installed mine. And have not caught the pipes as of yet. I have lowered my Heritage an 1" also.

Not as of yet.

I have the samson true duals with the short fishtails and only scraped once in a turn with my bike slammed down with the new airr ride. With the stock shocks I never scraped. If my air ride were up at stock height it would not have scraped. Obviously the shorter the pipes are, the less opportunity there is to scrape.

I've got the 08 Bones with V&H True Duals and fish tail tips. I've never scraped them at all. You'll be ginding the floorboards before the pipes hit. I'm running at stock height, but am considering lowering it an inch or two. Deciding between the airshocks or just a lowering kit. That may change things though.

Hey Walter - don't put me off, mate! Haven't got my 09 home yet & just taken my toe sliders off..

You going on the inaugural RTTW ride with it? Might see how many others show up on the run..

I like scraping.....spark show and all....But on a stock height bike or slightly lowered it won't be an issue.. I have an airtail and I ride low when bar hopping.

Thanks very much guys, all good info. I'll start saving the pennies now. I don't anticipate lowering the suspension any, funnily enough when I ease my 350lbs into the saddle it doesn't ride all that high - as such!!!

Keep on trucking.

Walt
